Mahmoud Reda

Mahmoud Reda (born March 18, 1930 in Cairo ; † July 10, 2020 ) was an Egyptian dancer and choreographer and one of the founders of the Egyptian dance theater .

Reda took part as a gymnast at the Olympic Games in Helsinki in 1952 and finished 16th with the Egyptian team.

Mahmoud Reda was the founder of the dance and folklore ensemble Reda Troupe , which he directed for many years and which produced many world-famous dancers. He studied the folklore of his homeland and performed it with his ensemble in stage versions. His choreographies in Egyptian films of the 1960s had a major influence on the development of oriental dance in its stage form.
