Mahmoud Wagdy

Lieutenant General Mahmoud Wagdy ( Egyptian - Arabic محمود وجدى, DMG Maḥmūd Waǧdī ; * March 23, 1948 in el-Beheira ) was the Egyptian Minister of the Interior from January 31, 2011 to March 6, 2011 . In its fourth announcement, the ruling military council announced that the current ministers in the Shafik cabinet should continue their work until a new government is elected.

Life

Wagdy served as a sergeant until he to the Cairo Criminal came. Wagdi completed his law studies with a degree in police science in 1968. After graduating, he worked at the Heliopolis Police Station . First he was chief investigator in the El-Zaitoun district, then deputy chief of police in Heliopolis, then chief investigator of the East Cairin sector. From 1992 to 1999 he was director of the Cairin criminal police.

His political career led him through the Ministry of the Interior and made him general director of the police of Kaliobia , Kafr el -Sheikh and Al-Minya . He was also the head of the prison . He later became assistant to the interior minister , then first assistant to the interior minister and member of the highest police council. He has two Medals of Merit and has spoken at many local and international security conferences. Most recently, he was Vice Interior Minister alongside Interior Minister Habib al-Adli .

In response to the 2011 revolution in Egypt , he was appointed Minister of the Interior by President Muhammad Husni Mubarak on January 31, 2011. Wagdi is responsible for solving the deadly orders of his imprisoned predecessor, who lost his authority when hundreds of subordinates refused to shoot protesters. On March 6, 2011, he was succeeded by Mansour el-Essawy as Minister of the Interior. On March 22, about 18,000 police sergeants demonstrated outside the Home Office to demand Wagdy's reinstatement and a raise. The communications center was set on fire, and it burned down completely.
