Mailza Assis da Silva , known as Mailza Gomes (born December 10, 1976 in Mundo Novo , Mato Grosso do Sul ) is a Brazilian politician of the Progressistas (PP) party. In 2019 she became Federal Senator for the state of Acre .

Career

In the 2014 election , Gomes was elected Gladson Cameli's first deputy in the Bundessenat. After Cameli was elected governor of the state of Acre in 2018 , Gomes became the incumbent Federal Senator for the 56th legislative period in 2019 . After Íris Célia Cabanellas, Laélia de Alcântara and Marina Silva , elected in 1994 , Gomes is the fourth female federal senator for the state of Acre.

Mailza Gomes is married to James Gomes, the former city prefect (mayor) of Senador Guiomard . During her husband's tenure in the local government she was u. a. responsible for administration, social welfare and citizenship matters.
