Cedarian "CeeDee" Lamb (born April 8, 1999 in Opelousas , Louisiana ) is an American American football player on the position of the wide receiver . He played college football for the Oklahoma Sooners . He was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft .

Early years

Lamb was born in Opelousas , Louisiana and grew up in the New Orleans area . His family moved to Houston as a result of the pre- Hurricane Katrina evacuation in 2005 . He attended Foster High School in the suburb of Richmond . In his senior year, he caught 98 passes for 2032 yards of space and 33 touchdowns. He was rated by 247Sports as a four-star recruit, i.e. one of the top 300 players of his year.

college

From 2017 to 2019, Lamb played football in college . He attended the University of Oklahoma and played there for the Oklahoma Sooners in the NCAA Division I FBS.

In his first season, he made 46 passes for 807 yards and seven touchdowns. In doing so, he set a new record at his college for most receiving yards of a freshman . In his sophomore year, he was able to improve all of these values. After Marquise Brown signed up for the NFL Draft ahead of the 2019 season, Lamb became the number one receiver for Oklahoma. Lamb caught 62 passes for 1,327 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2019. In all three years he reached the College Football Playoffs with the Sooners . He was one of the three finalists for the Fred Biletnikoff Award 2019 and was elected to the Consensus All-American .

Following the Sooners' loss to LSU in the college football playoffs semifinals, Lamb announced on December 29, 2019 that he would be giving up a possible fourth year at college and signing up for the 2020 NFL Draft .

Overall, Lamb ran in 40 games for Oklahoma, in which he caught 173 passes for 3,292 yards and 32 touchdowns.

NFL

In the run-up to the 2020 NFL Draft, Lamb was mostly seen by analysts as the best wide receiver available in the draft, alongside Jerry Jeudy from the Alabama Crimson Tide . Ultimately, he was selected as the third wide receiver behind Henry Ruggs and Jerry Jeudy in 17th place by the Dallas Cowboys.

Play style

Lamb is particularly characterized by his game after the catch, his physique and his body control. In the 2019 season, he forced 26 missed tackles at 62 catches, which was the second best value of all college football receivers. With an average of eleven yards after catching the pass, Lamb was also one of the leading wide receivers in this statistic. He is often compared to DeAndre Hopkins .
