Maison de François Viète
The Maison de François Viète (German House of François Viète ), also known as the Hôtel de la Pérate , in Fontenay-le-Comte , a town in the Vendée department in the Pays de la Loire region , was built in the third quarter of the 16th century . The house at 30 rue Gaston-Guillemet has been protected as a monument historique since 1944 .
The house, north of the Catholic parish church of Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption , was named after the lawyer and mathematician François Viète , who was born there.
The three-storey building in the Renaissance style has a richly decorated portal flanked by two columns.
