The Maistaller Lacke (also Maistaller Weiler) is a nutrient-poor moor lake in a small forest in the Kufstein district of Zell . The small lake was declared a natural monument in 1957 due to its typical flora and fauna . The Maistaller Lacke was created by a bowl-shaped depression that was created by the Inn in the last Ice Age , when it still covered the entire valley floor.

Lakes around Kufstein and Kiefersfelden

Accelerated by various influences, the pond threatens to silt up completely. In the winter of 1989 a partial renovation of the biotope was therefore tackled.

On maps from the 18th century it can be seen that there used to be around ten other small bog ponds. Except for the Maistaller Lacke and two swamps, all of them have disappeared. The “ little Maistaller See ” has also completely silted up and partly fallen victim to a garbage dump. This lake was only a few hundred meters next to today's Stimmersee below the Maistaller mountain .
