The Kieferer See is a quarry pond in the area of the municipality of Kiefersfelden in the district of Rosenheim in Bavaria .
location
The lake is located 1.3 km east of the village center of Kiefersfelden. Immediately to the south-east is the Inn , from which it is only separated by a strip of land about 40 meters wide. The Inntal motorway runs 300 m to the north . The Inn cycle path runs just a few meters from Lake Kieferer See.
The Kieferer See is located in the Inntal Süd landscape protection area (LSG-00595.01).
history
In the 18th century, the Schopperstelle Kiefern was on the site . A barge made it possible to cross the Inn into the neighboring Tyrol.
The lake, like the nearby Hödenauersee and Kreutsee , emerged as a gravel pit during the construction of the motorway in the early 1960s , which gradually filled with precipitation and groundwater.
A fatal swimming accident occurred there in 2015.
description
The approximately 2.5 hectare lake quickly developed into a popular local recreation and swimming lake. Today there are toilets, a kiosk and, to a limited extent, paved parking spaces. The entrances are handicapped accessible and the water quality is considered excellent. The water watch maintains a seasonally managed guard hut there.
There are no changing rooms or a shallow water zone for non-swimmers. The public transport does not now covers the lake, railway station in Kiefersfelden it is however (km approx 1) within walking distance. Camping is forbidden; Dog bathing is undesirable during the bathing season.
