The Pfrillsee is the smallest swimming lake of the six lakes west of Kufstein . The lake has no above-ground inflow, but an outflow - the "Pfrillbach" - which flows through the Kufstein district of Zell and then flows into the Inn under the motorway bridge .

Lakes around Kufstein and Kiefersfelden

The small forest lake is a nice hiking destination. A few meters from the south bank you have a view over Kufstein.

The "Thierberg Lakes" (Pfrillsee, Längsee , Hechtsee , Egelsee ) are tectonic phenomena, small collapse basins that may have been favored by cavities or other karst phenomena. However, the Inntal Glacier had cleared them in the last Ice Age, dug them out and dammed them up with moraine debris and meltwater sediments.

The Pfrillsee is dammed around one meter at its southern end. Without this measure, the lake would be significantly smaller and would sooner or later silt up. The lake is a maximum of 8 meters deep and previously had a small island in its center.

The Pfrillsee is privately owned, but is available to the public for free use (in contrast to the Stimmersee , Thiersee , Hechtsee ).

About 100 meters in front of the lake there is a reed pond, which was formerly called " Haarsee ". However, it is almost silted up and due to its small size it must be classified more as a pond than a lake. It was probably separated from the Pfrillsee by a rock fall.
