Major Parkinson is a Norwegian music group that can be classified as alternative rock or progressive rock .

history

Major Parkinson was founded in 2003 by Jon Ivar Kollbotn, Eivind Gammersvik, André Lund and Jan Are Rønhovde. In the same year they won various prizes in their hometown of Bergen .

Producer Sylvia Massy ( System of a Down , Tool , Johnny Cash , Red Hot Chili Peppers ) discovered Major Parkinson in 2006 on Myspace. In Los Angeles they recorded the self-titled debut album together at RadioStar Studios, which was released in 2008 and received good reviews in the local media.

Two years later, the largely self-produced album Songs from a Solitary Home followed . This was followed by an extensive tour that also took the Norwegians to Germany. At the beginning of 2014, the third album, Twilight Cinema , was released, which was partially financed by a crowdfunding project and for which a single was released in autumn 2013. The release tour started at the same time. After the release, both guitarists, including founding member André Lund, and the drummer left the band.

With a new line-up, a single was released in October 2016 as a foretaste of a new album. This was published in September 2017 and was again partially financed by a crowdfunding project .
