Sylvia Massy is an American music producer , sound engineer and studio owner .

biography

While working at a university radio , Massy became interested in production technology. After college, she got a job in a recording studio in San Francisco . With her as a sound engineer and producer, albums by various smaller, local artists were released from 1985 onwards. Until 1990 she was also involved in albums by, among others, Exodus , Julio Iglesias , Kylie Minogue and Danzig .

Around 1990 Massy moved to Los Angeles, where she was able to celebrate success with the band Green Jellÿ , which she produced . In addition, the collaboration with the band Tool began in Los Angeles . Her Massy-produced EP Opiate and the 1993 album Undertow , which she also produced , both went platinum and helped the band and Massy achieve their breakthrough. After this success, Massy began collaborations with Rick Rubin and worked with musicians such as the Deftones , Johnny Cash , the Red Hot Chili Peppers , REM , System of a Down or Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers .

In 2001 Massy founded Radiostar Studios in Weed, California .
