Maki Haberfeld

Maria R. (Maki) Haberfeld (* 1957 ) is an American political scientist and professor of political science in the Department of Law, Police Science and Criminal Justice Administration at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City .

Haberfeld was born in Poland and emigrated to Israel as a teenager. She was a soldier in the Israel Defense Force with an anti-terrorist unit and left the army with the rank of sergeant. She then worked for the Israel Police Department and left the agency as a lieutenant. At the Hebrew University of Jerusalem she studied archeology and history, later criminology. She received her Ph.D. from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York . in criminal law. She then worked for the Drug Enforcement Administration in the New York Field Office.

It deals in practice and theory with the training of police officers in the USA.
