Malcolm Fleming, 3rd Lord Fleming
Malcolm Fleming, 3rd Lord Fleming (* around 1494; † September 10, 1547 near Musselburgh ) was a Scottish nobleman from the Fleming family .
Life
He was the son of John Fleming, 2nd Lord Fleming and Eupheme Drummond. When his father died in 1524, he inherited his title of nobility.
In 1528 at the latest he became Lord Chamberlain of the Scottish King Jacob V. He held this court office until his death.
On November 24, 1542, he was captured by the English at the Battle of Solway Moss , and was only released the following year after a ransom was paid. In 1543 he supported Cardinal Beaton in preventing a planned marriage of the minor Queen Maria Stuart with the English Crown Prince Eduard Tudor . In 1544 he was admitted to the Scottish Privy Council .
He finally fell on September 10, 1547 at the Battle of Pinkie Cleugh . His widow Jane Stuart went to France with the young Maria Stuart in 1548, where she became the lover of King Henry II .
Marriage and offspring
In 1524/25 he was allowed to marry Jane Stuart , an illegitimate daughter of King James IV of Scotland from his relationship with Agnes Stewart. He had the following children with her:
