Malcolm McVean (born March 7, 1871 in Jamestown , † June 6, 1907 in Glasgow ) was a Scottish football player .
McVean began his career with Third Lanark and moved in 1892 to the English Liverpool FC , where he played until the 1897th He gained notoriety through a goal against Middlesbrough Ironopolis on September 2, 1893 in what was then the Second Division , which was Liverpool's first ever goal in the Football League . McVean's successes with Liverpool include the Second Division Championships in 1894 and 1897 and subsequent promotions to the First Division .
After leaving Liverpool, McVean played for Burnley and Dundee, among others . After the end of his football career, he worked in a shipyard . He died in 1907 at the age of 36.
