The Malindig , also called Marlanga , is a 1157 m potentially active stratovolcano in the Philippines . It is located on the island of Marinduque , west of the Bondoc peninsula , towering over the Sibuyan Sea . It is located in the south of the island in the municipality of Torrijos and Buenavista . North of the volcano is the Marinduque Wildlife Sanctuary . The name of the mountain comes from the Visayan language , is pronounced Malindug and means "steep and elegant".
The rock of the forested volcano consists mainly of andesite . The main activity phase of the Malindig is not known, a more detailed exploration of the volcano is still pending. However, there are hot springs on the western foothills of the Malindig.
