Malorie Blackman
Malorie Blackman (born February 8, 1962 in Clapham , London ) is a British author . She was named Children's Laureate 2013–2015.
Malorie Blackman worked in a variety of professions prior to her writing career. In addition to working as a database manager, system programmer, receptionist and employee of a catering company, she worked as a saleswoman. During this time she made many trips that shaped her later literary orientation.
Today she is a full-time author and primarily writes children's books. She has currently published over 50 books, some of which have been made into films. She has also received numerous awards for her work.
The avid piano, saxophone and computer player Malorie Blackman lives in London with her husband and daughter.
Her work Himmel und Hölle ("Noughts & Crosses", 2001), published in German in 2008 , caused a sensation. The book deals with the subject of racism from an unusual point of view: The oppressed people are white.
