Peter Richardson (born June 24, 1970 in Middlesbrough ) is a retired British boxer .

Career

Peter Richardson is British featherweight champion in 1989 and light welterweight champion in 1993 . At the Canada Cup 1989 he defeated opponents from Canada and South Korea, as well as in the semi-finals Mohamed Achik , before he was eliminated in the final against Ivan Robinson .

At the 1991 World Championships in Australia he defeated Sergio Rey from Spain and Andreas Zülow from Germany before losing to Vernon Forrest from the USA in the quarter-finals . In 1992 he was able to qualify for the 1992 Olympic Games in Spain in the European qualifying matches in Italy with victories against James Pender from Scotland, Lubomir Dimitrov from Bulgaria and Vukašin Dobrašinović from Yugoslavia . There he defeated Vernon Forrest (14: 8) and the Mongols Nyamaa Altankhuyag (21: 4) before he was eliminated from the games against the Romanian Leonard Doroftei (7:20).

In 1994 he won the multinationals tournament in England when he defeated Noah Amine, Steven Küchler and Christian Giantomassi . He also won the light welterweight division of the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Canada, when he won against Jamie Pagendam , Daniel Fulanse, Tijani Moro and Mark Winters.

From 1995 to 2000 he played 17 professional fights in Great Britain and Ireland, of which he won 14.
