Vukašin Dobrašinović

Vukašin Dobrašinović , Cyrillic : Вукашин Добрашиновић, (born July 15, 1964 in Ivangrad ) is a former Yugoslav boxer . He was an Olympic athlete in 1988 and a bronze medalist at the World Championships in 1989.

Boxing career

Dobrašinović was around 1.69 m tall during his competitive career and boxed for Ivangrad , later for Radnički Belgrade . He won several Yugoslav championships, including 1987 lightweight, and 1988 and 1989 light welterweight.

In 1987 he won the light welterweight division of the Mediterranean Games in Latakia and took part in the World Cup of the same year in Belgrade , where he only lost 2: 3 judges' votes to Orsubek Nazarow in the quarterfinals .

In 1988 he took part in the light welterweight division at the 24th Summer Olympic Games in Seoul , where he defeated Borislav Abadschiew from Bulgaria 3-2, but was then eliminated by Adrian Carew from Guyana 1: 4. At the European Championships in Athens in 1989 , he was eliminated in the quarterfinals against Hristo Furnigow from Bulgaria (1: 4).

In the light welterweight he started in 1989 at the 5th World Championships in Moscow . After a bye in the first round and subsequent victories against Sergio Rey from Spain (28:14) and Markku Narkiniemi from Sweden (25: 7), he was only defeated in the semifinals against Igor Ruschnikow from the Soviet Union (3:16). He thus got out of the World Cup with a bronze medal.

Another international success he achieved in 1991 at the European Championships in Gothenburg when he won a bronze medal in the light welterweight division. He beat Dariusz Czernij from Poland, Pavel Dostál from the Czech Republic and this time also Hristo Furnigow from Bulgaria before he had to admit defeat to Kostya Tszyu in the semifinals .

He finished the 6th World Championships in Sydney without medals after losing on points in the quarterfinals against Moses James from Nigeria 12:15.

An attempt to qualify for the 1992 Summer Olympics failed in the European qualifying matches in San Pellegrino Terme . After victories against Kenan Öner from Turkey and Peter Claesson from Sweden, he lost against Jyri Kjäll from Finland just at 10:11. He made one last international appearance in 1993 at the 7th World Championships in Tampere , where he was already defeated in the first fight against Nurhan Süleymanoğlu .

At the end of 1995 he started a career as a professional boxer, but was unsuccessful. In the fight for the Yugoslavian light welterweight championship in 1996, he lost twice to Zoran Šekularac. His most important victory was achieved on June 29, 1996 by knockout in the fifth round against the future Bulgarian champion Ivo Golakow. In his last fight in August 1997, he lost by knockout in the third round against Sandro Casamonica, the later World Cup challenger to Artur Grigorian .
