history

Malta Air was founded at the beginning of June 2019 and is operated as a joint venture between Ryanair and the Maltese government: Ryanair holds practically all shares through Gulliver Holding Limited , which is also Maltese , and the Ministry of Tourism holds a symbolic share with a nominal value of one euro. The new airline should initially be operated with the six aircraft and around 200 crew members that Ryanair has already stationed in Malta . Within three years, a total of ten aircraft with around 350 crew members should then be stationed in Malta.

In addition, 50 Ryanair planes, which are stationed in Germany, France and Italy, should be transferred to the Maltese airline.

Destinations

Initially, the destinations offered by Ryanair from Malta are to be taken over by Malta Air. In the long term, however, an expansion of the route network within Europe and North Africa is also planned.
