Malta Song for Europe 2001 (abbreviation: MSFE 2001 ) was the Maltese preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2001 , which took place in Copenhagen ( Denmark ) after the Olsen Brothers won the Eurovision Song Contest the previous year with their song Wings of Love . The competition was won by Fabrizio Faniello with the song Another Summer Night .

A total of 16 entries were selected by an expert jury to take part in the final, which took place on January 3, 2001 in the Mediterranean Conference Center . On February 2nd and 3rd, as in the previous year, the songs were performed exclusively in English . The songs were first presented on February 2nd. The jury selected the 16 finalists with 87.5% of the vote and the callers with 12.5%, who entered on February 3rd to represent Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest. For the first time in the Maltese preliminary round, everyone could cast their vote over the phone, in addition to the votes of the jury.

The artists had the choice of performing their songs in English or Maltese , since both languages ​​are their official language, but they all chose English.

In the final, which took place on January 3, 2001, 16 artists sang for victory in the preliminary round. Before the points were awarded, both Claudette Pace and the Olsen Brothers made guest appearances. Ultimately, it was won by Fabrizio Faniello with the song Another Summer Night . The points were awarded by 7 jurors and the "public vote" (telephone voices), who had to assign points to each song, so that they awarded each value from 1–12 and 14, 16, 18 and 20 once.
