The Malte Brun is a mountain in the New Zealand Alps in the Mount Cook National Park on the South Island of New Zealand .
geography
The mountain has a height of 3199 m and is located on the east side of the Tasman Glacier , about 13 km northeast of Aoraki / Mount Cook . It is part and the highest mountain of the Malte Brun Range , a mountain range on which the peaks of the mountains, Mount Chudleight ( 2966 m ), Mount Nathan ( 2868 m ), Aiguilles Rouges ( 2950 m ), Mount Hamilton ( 3025 m ) and Haeckel Peak ( 2965 m ) lie.
The Malte Brun Glacier is a small glacier that is located on the northwest flank of the Malte Brun . The Malte Brun Pass , on the other hand, extends further south over the Beetham Glacier in an east-west direction.
Origin of name
It is named after the French geographer Conrad Malte-Brun (1775–1826) or his son, the geographer and cartographer Victor Adolphe Malte-Brun (1816–1889), after whom of the two is unknown.
