Malte Herwig (basketball player)

Malte Ludger Florian Herwig (born February 7, 1992 in Cologne ) is a German basketball player on the position of the great winger . The 2.03 meter tall Herwig played for Göttingen and Würzburg in the basketball league .

career

Herwig was born in Cologne and grew up in Kassel from the age of three . From 2002 he played in the youth department of ACT Kassel and later for its men's team in the regional league. At the same time he was used with a double license for ASC 1846 Göttingen in the youth basketball league .

In the 2010/11 season Herwig was part of the ASC squad in the first regional league and, thanks to a double license, booked his first Bundesliga game in the jersey of the BG Göttingen . By the end of the 2011/12 season he completed a total of 14 missions for the violets in the top German league. For the 2012/13 season he moved to Würzburg. Most of the time he played in the local regional league team, but also played a Bundesliga game for s.Oliver Würzburg .

Between 2013 and 2015 Herwig strengthened the Licher BasketBären in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB . In 2015/16 he played for VfB Gießen in the second regional league and at the beginning of the 2016/17 season for the French sixth division Grenoble Alpes Métropole Basket, as he was in France as part of his studies.

For the 2017/18 season he returned to VfB Gießen in the second regional league. In the summer of 2018, Herwig moved to the RheinStars Cologne in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB.
