Malummeh was a Finnish melodic death metal and metalcore band from Helsinki that was founded in 2004 and disbanded in 2013 after being renamed Kuria .

history

The band was founded in 2004, but it wasn't until the summer of the following year that the band decided on a permanent singer with Marko Niemistö. In addition to him, the line-up consisted of guitarists Mikaeel Kiikka and Jaakko Eskelinen, bassist Ville Nordensved and drummer Valtteri Kallio. In 2005 and 2006 the first two demos followed with Turning Point and Rape, Repeat, Despise . The group then signed a record deal with Spinefarm Records in 2006 . Towards the end of the year the band took part in the Spinfeast Festival in Helsinki. The following year, the debut album Revival was released via the sub-label Spikefarm Records . In June 2011 the band changed their name to Kuria. The following year the EP Ei Pitkänä was released . The group disbanded in 2013.

style

Mike Borrink from Rock Hard wrote that Revival is definitely “heavy”, but since the group does not practice their own songwriting , but only uses banalities from Melodic Death Metal and Metalcore, he felt bored. When listening to the album, Stendahl from Metal.de drew comparisons to Mors Principium Est , Enter My Silence and Amoral , as these bands would also value groove , catchy choruses with growling and "permanently woody, plowing guitars". The aggression, rather than the playfulness, would be shared by Malummeh with Children of Bodom . He seldom heard anything in common with Metalcore. Gunnar Sauermann from Metal Hammer described the band's music as technical death metal with a penchant for metalcore.
