Enter My Silence is a Finnish melodic death metal band from Jyväskylä , which was founded in 1995 under the name Captivity .

history

The band was founded in late 1995 by drummer Teemu Hokkanen, bassist Arto Huttunen, guitarist Ville Lapio and guitarist and singer Tuomas Jäppinen under the name Captivity. After they had developed the first songs for a year, a first demo followed in November 1996, which included three songs. In the following months a few small gigs followed until Lapio left the band. Huttunen then switched from bass to electric guitar, so the post of bassist remained open for the time being. In 1997 the band was looking for a suitable bass player. However, the band still couldn't find a suitable replacement, so the group recorded the next demo as a trio in September. Since Hokkanen had to do his military service in 1998, Jäppinen and Huttunen worked on new songs. After Hokkanen returned in September, the band changed their name to Enter My Silence. After a few more rehearsals, the band went to the Watercastle Studio in Jyväskylä to record the Sophia's Eye demo in December. The following year the band wrote new songs. She also got a contract with Mighty Music . In early 2000, Lapio came back to the band, this time as bassist. In addition, Mikko Kotamäki came to the band as a singer, so that Jäppinen could concentrate completely on playing the guitar. In July 2000, the band returned to the Watercastle Studio to record their debut album, Remotecontrolled Scythe , which was released in Europe in March 2001 via Mighty Music. For the rest of the year the band played concerts all over Finland. The album was also released in the US on WWIII Records / Mercenary Music . Lapio left the band towards the end of the year. Since Jäppinen was also heavily involved through his work, the band was little active. The year 2002 and most of 2003 the band spent with few rehearsals. At the end of 2003, bassist Ville Friman joined the band. Then began work on a second album. In October, singer Kotamäki left the band because he wanted to devote himself to Swallow the Sun. As a replacement, Mika Lisitzin came to the cast about a month before the recording of the second album. Two days before the recordings, Mighty Music separated from the band, so the recordings took place on their own. The recordings took place in four sessions from late November to mid-February 2005 at the Watercastle Studio. The rest of the year 2005 the band spent mainly looking for a suitable label. In October, the band signed a deal with JMT Music , through which the album Coordinate: D1SA5T3R was released worldwide in February 2006.

style

The band plays classic Melodic Death Metal in the style of bands like In Flames and Soilwork .
