Malvin woods
Malvin Wald (born August 8, 1917 in New York City , † March 6, 2008 in Sherman Oaks , California ) was an American screenwriter .
Life
Wald graduated from Brooklyn College in 1936 . He then followed his brother Jerry Wald (1911–1962), a screenwriter and later film producer, to Hollywood . From the beginning of the 1940s he appeared as a screenwriter. The film 10 Leutnants von West-Point , published in 1942, is based on a story about him. During World War II , he served in the United States Army Air Forces . He later taught screenwriting at the University of Southern California . Up until the beginning of the 1950s, Wald was involved in a few movies, after which his work shifted mainly to television series.
He was nominated for an Oscar in the category of best original story in 1949 for the screenplay for City Without a Mask . He was also nominated for the Writers Guild of America Award in two categories together with Albert Maltz .
Wald was married and the father of two children. His wife died in 1999.
