Mamfe (also written Mamfé ) is a city in Cameroon in the Sud-Ouest province . It is the capital of the Manyu department . The population was estimated at 20,300 in 2001.
Mamfe is located on the Manyu River , the headwaters of the Cross River , at 472 meters above sea level. During the German colonial era the city was called Ossidinge (II) . The group of Mamfe languages was named after the city.
