Mami Sakato
Mami Sakato ( Japanese坂 戸 真 美, Sakato Mami ; born in Japan in the second half of the 20th century ) is a Japanese church musician and concert organist who works internationally.
Life
Sakato first studied with Henriette Puig-Roget at the private music academy Musashino Academia Musicae in Tokyo . She then continued her training in Germany at the Saar University of Music in Saarbrücken with Daniel Roth and in France at the Conservatoire de Paris .
Then she was a student of Olivier Latry at the Conservatoire National de Région de Saint-Maur-des-Fossés in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés until 1992 . Finally, from 1996 to 1997 she studied harpsichord with Michael Eberth at the University of Music and Theater in Munich .
Sakato is titular organist at the Catholic Himonya Church in Tokyo and organist at the private Aoyama Gakuin University there . In addition to her work as a church musician, she regularly gives concerts in Japan and Europe, in particular France, Spain and Germany. Her repertoire includes a. Works by well-known French composers such as Camille Saint-Saëns , Maurice Duruflé and Charles-Marie Widor . Her first audio CD, released in 2010 and dedicated to organ music of the early 20th century, received excellent reviews; a second CD followed in 2014.
Mami Sakato is a member of the Japan Organ Society .
Musical success
In 1990 Sakato received the first prize for organ at the Conservatoire in Paris, the Premier Prix d'Orgue . In 1990 and 1991 she was a finalist in the Bordeaux International Organ Competition . In 1992 she received the gold medal in the organ class from Olivier Latry and won second prize at the César Franck competition for organ in Haarlem, the Netherlands .
