Michael Eberth (* 1959 in Munich ) is a German harpsichordist and music teacher .

biography

Eberth studied first with Karl Maureen and Hedwig Bilgram and then at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis fortepiano with Jean Goverts and organ and harpsichord with Jean-Claude Zehnder . He completed his training with Jos van Immerseel , Kenneth Gilbert , Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini , John Gibbons , Harald Vogel , Michael Radulescu , Johann Sonnleitner and Gustav Leonhardt .

Since 1980 he has been teaching harpsichord, chamber music and figured bass at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich , where he has also headed the early music department since 2001. After integrating this institution into the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich , he teaches figured bass and harpsichord in the studio for historical performance practice . From 2004 to 2011 he also taught harpsichord at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. In 1995 he also gave courses at the summer academy in Brixen at the invitation of Joshua Rifkin . In 2012 he was made an honorary professor.

Eberth gives concerts as a harpsichord and organ soloist in Germany, Italy, Austria, Slovenia, France, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, South Korea and the USA and also appears on radio and television recordings. As a continuo player, he performs with musicians and ensembles such as Dorothee Oberlinger , Michael Schopper , Kobie van Rensburg , Gerhart Darmstadt , Sharon Weller , Robert Crowe , the Trio Boismortier , L'arpa festante , the Salzburg Court Music , the Berliner Lautten Compagney and The Bach Ensemble New York on. He is the director of the Palestra Musica ensemble .
