repertoire

The repertoire spans the beginning of the baroque period around 1600 to the romantic music of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy , the line-ups are accordingly variable and diverse. The focus is on German, Italian and English compositions. The ensemble's program includes both instrumental and vocal works. The latter range from song and aria programs to opera and oratorios.

As a music historian and researcher, the artistic director Wolfgang Katschner repeatedly performs almost forgotten works. Music by Giovanni Battista Bononcini , Bellerofonte Castaldi , Johann Philipp Krieger , Matthew Locke and Baldassare Galuppi was released for the first time on CD . In 2008, the Lautten Compagney and the Sing-Akademie zu Berlin organized a highly regarded concert with works by anonymous masters.

Bringing early music to a wide audience in its diversity and vitality is the declared aim of the artistic work. In their performances and productions , the musicians of the Lautten Compagney place particular emphasis on the imaginative execution of the basso continuo , a specialty of the music of this era, in which lute instruments play an important role. In the context of the crossover concept, references to modern music and other forms of expression (dance theater) and unconventional performance locations and forms are also sought. The aim is to integrate renaissance and baroque music into the present day by creating contrasts and encounters with contemporary music. On Good Friday 2014, the Lautten Compagney performed four passions by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach over the course of the day in four Berlin churches. Participants were vocal soloists and others. a. the State and Cathedral Choir and the Sing-Akademie zu Berlin.
