Michael Radulescu (* 1943 in Bucharest ) is a German-Austrian composer , organist and university professor of German-Romanian origin.

Life

Radulescu was born to a Romanian father and a German mother. He studied with Anton Heiller and Hans Swarowsky at the Academy for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna . Since 1959 he has given concerts as an organist in Europe, North America, Australia and Japan. From 1968 to 2008 he taught as a professor at the Vienna University of Music .

As a composer he was influenced by, among others, Paul Hindemith , Anton Webern , Arnold Schönberg , György Ligeti and Olivier Messiaen . He works as an editor of old organ music and acts as a juror at international competitions. As an organist, among other things, he recorded the entire organ works by Johann Sebastian Bach .

In 2005 he received the Golden Merit Award of the State of Vienna . In October 2007 he received the award for music from the Austrian Ministry of Education and Art for his musical life's work.
