Wolfgang Sauseng
Wolfgang Sauseng (born July 6, 1956 in Graz ) is an Austrian composer , organist and conductor .
Life
Wolfgang Sauseng completed his musical education at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna , which he completed in 1979 with a diploma in church music (with distinction and award) and in 1984 in orchestral conducting. His teachers included u. a. Anton Heiller , Erich Urbanner , Alfred Mitterhofer , Karl Österreicher and Thomas Christian David . During his student days he already held the position of organist at the Michaelerkirche in Vienna , which he held until 2008. From 1979 he directed the television productions ( Ash Wednesday of the Artists ) broadcast from the Michaelerkirche and organized the annual St. Michael International Organ Festival .
In 1982 he not only started teaching at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, but also became a répétiteur with the Vienna Jeunesse Orchestra for two years . From 1989 he held a full professorship for composition and church composition at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, until he was appointed full professor at the Institute for Organ, Organ Research and Church Music at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in 1996.
As an organist, Sauseng has given concerts in Austria, Switzerland , Italy and England and has made many works on radio and CD recordings. As part of his preoccupation with early music , he founded the vocal and instrumental ensemble Capella Archangeli , which performs internationally and is also committed to new church music.
