Mammillaria carmenae is a species of plant in the genus Mammillaria in the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet honors Carmen González Castañeda, wife of the engineer and cactus enthusiast Marcelino Castañeda.

Mammillaria carmenae forms small groups. The spherical to egg-shaped plant bodies are up to 4 to 10 centimeters high and up to 3 to 4 centimeters in diameter. The conical warts are without the milky sap . The axillae are covered with wool and bristles. Central spines are completely absent. The 100 or more radial spines are white or light yellow and 0.5 inches long.
The white to light pink or tinged pink flowers are up to 1.1 centimeters long and 1.1 centimeters in diameter. The greenish fruits contain black seeds .
Distribution, systematics and endangerment
Mammillaria carmenae is common in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas .
The first description was in 1953 by Marcelino Castañeda . A synonym is Escobariopsis carmenae (Castañeda) Doweld (2000).
In the Red List of Threatened Species of IUCN is the species as " Critically Endangered (CR) ", d. H. listed as critically endangered.
