Mammillaria lloydii is a species of plant in the genus Mammillaria in the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet honors the English plant physiologist Francis Ernest Lloyd (1868–1947), who worked mainly in the USA and Canada.

Mammillaria lloydii grows individually. The flattened spherical to cylindrical, dark green shoots are up to 10 centimeters high and 6 to 15 centimeters in diameter. The warts are firm, square and without milky sap . The axillae are lightly woolly. Central spines are absent. The 3 to 4 ascending radial spines are bare. The upper ones are red to brown, the lower ones are white and 2 to 5 millimeters long.

The white flowers are 1.2 to 1.5 centimeters in diameter. They have a red median. The dark red fruits are club-shaped. They grow up to 8 millimeters long and contain brown seeds .

Distribution and systematics

Mammillaria lloydii is common in the Mexican states of Zacatecas and San Luis Potosí .

It was first described in 1923 as Neomammillaria lloydii by Nathaniel Lord Britton and Joseph Nelson Rose . Charles Russell Orcutt introduced the species to Mammillaria in 1926 . A synonym is Neomammillaria lloydii Britton & Rose (1923).
