Mammillaria miegiana is a species of the genus Mammillaria in the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet miegiana honors the American cactus collector Charles E. Mieg from Scottsdale .

description

Mammillaria miegiana grows solitary, appearing white. The spherical to short cylindrical shoots are up to 16 centimeters high and reach a diameter of 10 centimeters. The warts are square shaped. The axillae are woolly at first and later bare. The 2  central spines are directed upwards and downwards. They are brown and 7 to 8 millimeters long. The 10 to 11 radial spines are grayish white, straight or slightly curved. They are 8 to 9 millimeters long.

The reddish pink flowers have a scarlet central stripe. They are up to 2 inches long and up to 2.5 inches in diameter. The club-shaped fruits are colored cherry red and up to 2.5 centimeters long. They contain reddish brown seeds .

Distribution and systematics

Mammillaria miegiana is common in the Mexican state of Sonora . It was first described in 1972 by W. Hubert Earle (1906–1984).
