Mammillaria mieheana is a species of the genus Mammillaria in the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet mieheana honors the German horticulturist G. Miehe from Hanover .
description
Mammillaria mieheana sprouts strongly and forms groups. The cylindrical shoots are up to 15 centimeters high and reach a diameter of 5 centimeters. The short, egg-shaped warts do not contain milk juice . The axillae are covered with white wool, especially near the apex. The 3 to 6 central spines are almost straight, yellow to brown, and are 1.5 centimeters long. The 18 to 20 light yellow to white radial spines are 8 to 15 millimeters long.
The yellow flowers are 1.5 centimeters long and have the same diameter. The club-shaped to egg-shaped fruits are whitish translucent. They become 1.5 inches long and contain golden brown seeds .
Distribution and systematics
Mammillaria mieheana is common in the Mexican state of Querétaro . It was first described in 1933 by Ernst Tiegel (1879–1936). A synonym is Leptocladia mieheana (crucible) Buxb. (1951, incorrect name ICBN -Article 11.4).
