Mammillaria sanchez-mejoradae is a species of plant in the genus Mammillaria in the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet honors the Mexican cactus specialist Hernándo Sánchez-Mejorada .
description
Mammillaria sanchez-mejoradae grows individually with flattened spherical to spherical bright green shoots and reaches heights of up to 3 centimeters with diameters of 1 to 3 centimeters. The warts are conical. They do not contain milk juice . The axillae are bare. There is no central spine . The 30 to 40 hair-like, stiff, white radial spines lie like a comb on the warts and are 1.5 to 2 millimeters long.
The bell-shaped flowers are whitish pink. They are up to 1.6 centimeters long and reach a diameter of 2 centimeters. The spherical fruits are completely hidden in the shoots. They are 3 to 8 millimeters in diameter and contain black seeds .
Distribution, systematics and endangerment
Mammillaria sanchez-mejoradae is common in the Mexican state of Nuevo León .
The first description was in 1992 by Rodrigo González . A synonym is Escobariopsis sanchez-mejoradae (Rodr.González) Doweld .
Mammillaria sanchez-mejoradae is in the endangered Red List species the IUCN as " Critically Endangered (CR) ", d. H. critically endangered, classified.
