The Manasi He ( Chinese 玛纳斯 河 , Pinyin Mǎnàsī hé ) is a river in the Xinjiang Autonomous Region in the northwest of the People's Republic of China .
The Manasi He arises in the Borochoro mountain range at the confluence of several source rivers. It flows in a northerly direction through the mountains in the eastern part of the Tian Shan . It reaches the Djungarian Basin and flows through the city of Shihezi . Then it is dammed up to the Jiahezi Reservoir . The historic course of the river continues north through the Gurbantünggüt desert and ends in the outflow-free Lake Manasi Hu . The Manasi He has a length of 402 km. Water is taken from the river for irrigation purposes and for water supply.
