history

Early years

Morgan Lacroix recorded a first four-song demo in 1999 at NEW SIN Studios, Italy. In 2000 Lacroix was introduced to the singer, guitarist and composer Tery Horn. Both decided to work together. The first result was Mandragora Scream’s debut album Fairy Tales from Hell's Caves (English: "Fairy tales from the caves of hell") was finally released in 2001 on the German label Nuclear Blast / Capiranha Records. In 2003 their second album A Whisper of Dew was also released by Nuclear Blast. The album follows the concept of a vampire tale written by Julio Angel Olivares Merino , which Morgan Lacroix inspired for the album.

Madhouse and Volturna (2006-2011)

Madhouse is the third album that was released in 2006 on the band's own record label Lunatic Asylum Records. According to the band's own information, the video for the single Dark Lantern was viewed more than a million on YouTube within 6 months. In January 2007 the CD / DVD Dragonfly was released which contains 2 videos from the album Madhouse , two remastered songs and a previously unreleased song.

In 2009, Jeanne D'Arc released another single in a limited edition of 666 copies. In October 2009 the fourth studio album by the band Volturna was released , the album again pursued the concept of a vampire story. This album was followed by a European tour in which the band played as support for The 69 Eyes and Christian Death . During this time there was also a line-up change and Max Rivers and Furyo joined the band as drummers and bassists, respectively.

In 2010 Mandragora Scream took part in the Heineken Jammin Festival and with Breaking Dawn in the first Fantasy Horror Award . In April / May 2011 the band went on tour in Russia with Cradle of Filth .

Luciferland (2012)

In 2012 the current album Luciferland was released . According to the band, Luciferland is a land of gods, which served as the inspiration for the concept of the album. The album was only distributed through the band's website and iTunes. The first edition of the CD (10,000 copies) was sold out within a week.

Mandragora Scream sees itself not only as a musical project, but as a band that wants to raise awareness of a new civilization through their albums and videos. Out of aversion to the usual interview questions about album and band names as well as the style of music, Mandragora Scream decided to record an hour-long interview on Luciferland, which was conducted by "Metal Hammer" journalist Filippo Pagani, and questions of theology, hermetics, alchemy and history rolled into one treated completely new context.

style

On metal.de, the band's music is compared with Within Temptation , Agathodaimon and Marilyn Manson . Her music is described as Dark Metal with female vocals, hard riffs, driving drums and contrasting orchestral interludes.
