Manfred Brucks

Manfred Brucks (born September 25, 1955 ) is a former German athlete and long-distance runner . In 1981 he won the first edition of the Rhein-Ruhr-Marathon as an active member of the BSV Grün-Weiß Flüren .

career

Brucks emerged from the athletics department of the BSV Grün-Weiß Flüren from Wesel - Flüren and was one of the club's greatest talents. In the Flüren half marathon, which is held by the club, he set a course record of 1:06:30 hours that has been valid for decades. On September 19, 1981, he took part in the first edition of the Rhine-Ruhr Marathon in Duisburg , which was the second city marathon to be introduced in Germany after the Frankfurt Marathon, which was held for the first time in the same year . Brucks took the overall victory in a time of 2:26:36 hours.

On April 17, 1983, he finished eleventh at the German marathon championship in Dülmen and achieved his personal best over the marathon distance with a time of 2:21:01 hours. From 1985 Brucks joined the LAV Bayer Uerdingen / Dormagen . At the German Athletics Championships in 1985 , he took third place in the team ranking of the 25 km road race together with Martin Grüning and Clemens Hoube .
