Manfred Fischedick (* 1964 in Heiden , Westphalia) is a German energy and climate researcher. He has been Scientific Director of the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy since 2020 and an adjunct professor at the Schumpeter School of Business and Economics at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal since 2008 .

biography

Manfred Fischedick studied process engineering at the University of Dortmund and received his doctorate in energy technology from the University of Stuttgart as a Dr.-Ing. In November 2008 he was appointed adjunct professor in the Faculty of Economics - Schumpeter School of Business and Economics - at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal. Fischedick has been working at the Wuppertal Institute since 1993, from November 2003 as head of Research Group I “Future Energy and Mobility Structures”, since June 2006 as Vice President and since March 2010 also as a member of the management. Fischedick is a member of the Energy and Climate Council of North Rhine-Westphalia and is also the Coordinating Lead Author for the IPCC Special Report on Renewable Energies and the 5th Assessment Report. His work and research focus is on the energy industry , energy system and energy scenario analysis , renewable energies and innovative energy technologies, innovations and start-ups in the field of sustainable energy and mobility technologies, national and international energy and climate policy, market launch strategies, infrastructure analysis, research and technology policy, technology forecasting, business field, company and technology development in the field of energy supply and plant construction .
