Manfred Gawlik

Manfred Gawlik (born November 28, 1941 in Guttentag , Upper Silesia ) is a former German politician ( CDU ). He was chairman of the CDU district association Magdeburg .

Life

The son of an employee attended high school and learned the trade of a company and transport railroader. He obtained a technical college degree as an engineer for railway operations and traffic engineering and later a university degree as a state scientist. From 1965 to 1970 he was an employee of the Deutsche Reichsbahn , most recently as head of service.

In 1965 he became a member of the CDU. Since 1967 he has been a member of the Wanzleben and Oschersleben district boards of the CDU and its secretariats. Most recently, he was CDU district chairman in Magdeburg-Süd until 1979. From 1970 to 1979 he worked in responsible state functions, for example as a member of the council of the Oschersleben district and from 1977 to 1979 as a member of the council of the Magdeburg district and head of the recreation department. Since 1971 he was also active as a member of parliament, first as a member of the district council of Oschersleben, then as a city councilor in Magdeburg and from 1981 to 1990 as a member of the district council of Magdeburg.

In 1977 he became a member of the CDU district board in Magdeburg, in 1979 he was deputy chairman of the district board and on November 20, 1980 he replaced Werner Biedermann, who was ill, as district chairman. On October 15, 1982 he was elected member of the main board at the 15th party congress of the CDU. Gawlik completed an upper school course at the central training center of the CDU.

On June 26, 1989 he was elected member of the Presidium and Secretary of the main board of the CDU. He held these functions until his resignation for personal reasons in November 1989. However, he remained district chairman until the CDU regional association of Saxony-Anhalt was formed in February 1990. On January 19, 1990, he was elected President of the Magdeburg District Assembly and held this position until the District Assembly was dissolved in March 1990.
