Carl Broßmann

Carl Broßmann , also Karl Broßmann , (born October 21, 1892 in Biebrich , † March 6, 1970 in Magdeburg ) was a German politician and functionary of the GDR block party CDU .

Life

The son of a farmer's family studied after attending the elementary school and the high school theology, philology and economics and was then from 1918 to 1947 in schools in Halle (Saale), most recently as teacher . In 1933 he joined the NSDAP .

After the end of the Second World War , he became a member of the newly founded CDU of the Soviet occupation zone in September 1945 and entered full-time party service in 1946. From 1947 to 1948 he was secretary of the CDU regional association of Saxony-Anhalt. From 1948 to 1951 he was State Secretary of the National Front in Saxony-Anhalt.

At the beginning of June 1950, at the fourth state party convention of the CDU in Saxony-Anhalt , Broßmann was to be elected state chairman of the party at the instigation of the Soviet Control Commission . The demand sparked discussions because of the allegation that he was an employee of the Soviet secret service, which is why Joseph Wujciak was elected chairman instead. From then on, Broßmann only held the office of second chairman.

From November 1950 to 1952 member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt and at the same time chairman of the CDU parliamentary group there until the state chamber of the GDR was dissolved in 1958. In 1951/52 he worked in the state administration and as a teacher in higher education. On June 12, 1951 he became head of the central party school of the CDU in Halle. After the dissolution of the state of Saxony-Anhalt, he became chairman of the Magdeburg district committee of the CDU in 1952 and held this post until May 1960. From 1954 to 1960 he was a member of the CDU main committee and from 1952 to 1962 deputy chairman of the Magdeburg district association of the German Society -Soviet friendship and CDU member of the Magdeburg district assembly. Most recently he headed a residential area committee of the National Front in Magdeburg.
