Ulrich Fahl

Ulrich Fahl (born June 26, 1933 in Königsberg , † October 1, 2004 in Berlin ) was a German politician ( CDU ). He was chairman of the CDU district association in Magdeburg and a member of the People's Chamber of the GDR .

Life

The son of a commercial clerk attended secondary school in Mecklenburg and completed an apprenticeship as an administrative clerk from 1948 to 1950. In 1948 he joined the FDGB and the CDU. From 1950 to 1952 he worked as head of department at the city council of Schwerin. In 1952 he was briefly chairman of the CDU district association Schwerin. After the dissolution of the federal states and the formation of new districts, he became deputy chairman of the CDU district association in Rostock in the summer of 1952. In 1953 he went to Berlin as a department head of the CDU main board and in 1954 became a member of the main board.

From 1960 to June 1971 he was chairman of the CDU district association in Magdeburg and from 1961 to 1971 he was a member of the Magdeburg district assembly. He completed a distance learning course at the agricultural engineering school in Haldensleben from 1965 to 1967 as a state-certified farmer.

In June 1971 he was elected Secretary of the Main Board and in 1972 a member of the Presidium of the Main Board. He held these positions until November 1989. In the election of the new CDU leadership on November 10, 1989, he did not receive the required majority of votes. From November 1971 to March 1990 he was also a member of the People's Chamber. From 1971 to 1986 he was a member of the Committee for National Defense, from 1976 to November 1989 deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group and since 1986 chairman of the committee for citizens' submissions.

In 1981 he became Vice President of the GDR-Mexico Friendship Society. In November 1989 he became the first deputy mayor of Berlin-Mitte and was then the acting mayor of the city ​​district from February to May 1990.

Pale died at the age of 71. His urn was buried in the forest cemetery in Berlin-Müggelheim .
