Walter Erbe (District Administrator)

Walter Erbe (born June 26, 1890 in Landeck , † July 5, 1963 in Hamburg ) was a German lawyer , politician and district administrator .

Life

Born as the son of a land rent master, Erbe studied law and political science in Breslau and Greifswald after attending the Johannesgymnasium in Breslau and the grammar school in Meseritz . During his studies in 1912 he became a member of the Arminia Breslau fraternity , the later Old Breslau fraternity of the Raczeks . After his exams in 1917 he did his legal clerkship , in which he was involved in the establishment of the Prussian trainee association. In 1920/21 he joined the German People's Party (DVP) and became a member of the Escherich organization . In 1921 he was in Greifswald to Dr. iur. doctorate and passed the Grand State Examination in 1922 . After several handovers he was in 1926 Councilor at the Regional Tax Office in Kiel . In 1931 he joined the NSDAP and became Gaufach leader for state officials in the Association of National Socialist German Jurists (BNSDJ) in Schleswig-Holstein . From 1932 he was a member of the Reich Association of German Civil Servants . In 1933 he worked as a state commissioner for the chief president of the Schleswig-Holstein government and became district administrator in the Norderdithmarschen district . In 1934 he went to the State Finance Office of Schleswig-Holstein in the service of the Reich Administration, but shortly afterwards to Berlin to the Reich Ministry of Finance . He was chairman of the supervisory board of Basaltwerke in Schleswig-Holstein and a judge at the district party court in Berlin. In 1936 he became the district mayor of the Mitte district in Berlin , but was retired in 1939 after criminal proceedings against him for alleged vilification. He then worked as an economic and tax consultant and was managing director of the fur industry in Leipzig . In 1945 he went to Hamburg. In 1946 he was banned from working and his civil service rights were revoked. He was not rehabilitated until 1966 .
