Alex Diehl (born November 26, 1987 in Traunstein ) is a German musician and singer-songwriter .
Life
Diehl learned early on to play various instruments, including drums , guitar and piano . At the age of 12 he founded his first band . He wrote his texts first in English, then later in German. Throughout his youth he worked in various genres from rock to jazz . At the age of 17 he made the decision to leave school and at the age of 18 he registered a trade as a musician and guitar teacher. He played many small concerts in clubs and bars, gave guitar lessons and thus financed his living.
In 2011 the artist got to know his current producer and his current management. In January 2013 he organized a showcase in a youth center in Berlin-Marzahn. Shortly afterwards, he was able to conclude a publishing and label contract with BMG Rights Management and Sony Music Entertainment . In 2014 he went on a promotional tour through Germany after finishing the recordings on the debut album. This was followed by television appearances and tours as a supporting act with, among others, Xavier Naidoo , Revolverheld , Andreas Gabalier and Laith Al-Deen . In 2014 the album A Lifetime was released , with which Diehl went on tour.
With his song Nur ein Lied , which he wrote because of the terrorist attacks on November 13, 2015 in Paris , filmed with a mobile phone camera and published it on the social network Facebook , he reached millions of people in a short time. Interviews for print, TV and radio media, including RTL Television , Bild and the radio station Bayern 3 followed.
In November 2015 Alex Diehl signed a record deal with Universal Music Group for his second album. In December 2015, Bayern 3 organized a new recording of the song together with the Munich Radio Orchestra . On February 25, 2016, Alex Diehl took part in the preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 , Our Song for Stockholm , with Just One Song , and came second.
In 2016, Alex Diehl was awarded the Hanns Seidel Foundation's special prize for young songwriters and performed on three days as a special prize winner at the songwriter festival Songs on a summer evening on the meadow in front of Banz Monastery in Bad Staffelstein . He can be heard on the anniversary CD with Nur ein Lied und Silvester .
In October 2016, Alex Diehl appeared as a guest of Peter Maffay in the rock musical Tabaluga .
