Manfred Hürlimann

Manfred Hürlimann (born September 29, 1958 in Oberstaufen im Allgäu ) is a Swiss- born painter and draftsman who lives in Nuremberg , Germany.

Life

From 1977 to 1979 Hürlimann completed an apprenticeship as a church painter, then began his academic training. Until 1986 he studied painting with Günter Voglsamer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg . In 1983 Hürlimann was made a master student and in 1984 received a scholarship from Wolf Vostell at the summer academy in Salzburg . In 1988 he received the debut award from the Bavarian State Ministry for Education, Culture, Science and Art. In 1992 he was awarded the Art Prize of the Middle Franconia district .

At the Leipzig Book Fair in 1999, together with the Spätlese-Verlag, he presented his catalog entitled: Emptiness, Death and Life . The Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation shot Manfred Hürlimann's studio visit with him in 2001 . The film premiered at the Nuremberg Opera House and was then broadcast on television.

Hürlimann has a painting style that rejects all fashions and trends. In the works of Manfred Hürlimann there is a reflection on ancient mythology, but also on the medieval world of legends. The painter also draws on literary models by Dante , Charles Baudelaire and Sarah Kane .

Hürlimann paints pictures of people on expansive wall and ceiling pictures, which are often laid out as diptychs.
