Manfred Hellmann (born March 1, 1948 in Viernau ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ) and was a member of the Thuringian state parliament from 2009 to 2014 .

Career

After graduating from high school in 1966, Hellmann studied at the TH Ilmenau , which he completed as a graduate engineer. He then held managerial positions in the electrical industry until 1993, and then from 1993 to 1996 as managing director for the Suhl regional transport company .

Hellmann was honorary mayor of the municipality of Viernau from 1999 to 2016 and is a member of the district council in the district of Schmalkalden-Meiningen . For the state elections in Thuringia in 2009 he was elected as a direct candidate of his party in the constituency Schmalkalden-Meiningen II against the former CDU minister of education Jens Goebel in the Thuringian state parliament. In the state election in 2014 , he did not appear again.
