Manfred Lohrengel

Manfred Lohrengel (* 1937 in Bremen ; † February 7, 2006 in Berne ) was a German sculptor in Bremen.

biography

Lohrengel was a student of Professor Gerhart Schreiter at the Bremen Art School . His artistic work set itself apart from the abstract sculptures of the 1950s. But neither was he a representative of the realism that followed in art. His works could also have aggressive features.

From 1965 to 1980 he was artistically most productive. Numerous exhibitions at home and abroad made him known. He also provided urban planning designs and a. he won first prize for the unrealized design of the Sögestraße pedestrian zone. He kept in close contact with architects and town planners and accompanied them with his projects.

He was a co-founder of the artists' associations, involved in the Grün group and involved in the transformation of the “Bremen Artists Association” into the Association of Visual Artists (bbk) in Bremen.

In 1969 he co-founded the Cinema in the Ostertor in Bremen.
