Manfred Paethe

Manfred Paethe (born February 1, 1944 in Berlin ; † May 18, 2014 ) was a German actor who was best known for his stage work.

Life

Paethe completed an acting training with Herma Clement in Berlin from 1963 to 1963 . From 1964 to 1972 he belonged to the ensemble of the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus under Karl-Heinz Stroux , where he played the " Philippeau " in Georg Büchner's Dantons Tod alongside Wolfgang Reichmann in the title role, the "Damis" in Molières Tartüff and the "Laertes" in William Shakespeare's Hamlet , played by Helmuth Lohner , embodied. Another engagement took Paethe to Wiesbaden from 1972 to 1975. Finally, in September 1975, he became a permanent member of the ensemble of the Deutsches Theater Göttingen , where he found a wide range of artistic activities until he retired on January 31, 2007. There he played title roles in numerous productions such as Shakespeare's Antonius and Cleopatra , Friedrich Schiller's Wilhelm Tell and Anton Chekhov's Platonov . In 2003 he was called “one of the long- serving actors of the house” in Theater heute .

Paethe was a rare guest in television productions. He appeared in two editions of the ZDF television series Aktenzeichen XY ... ungelöst and the film adaptation of Tankred Dorst's drama Die Mohrin with Ulli Philipp in the title role. He was also seen in various recordings of productions by the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus.

Paethe, who was privately committed to Amnesty International , died on May 18, 2014 at the age of 70.
