Manfred Schuhmann (born March 22, 1942 in Ingolstadt ) is a German high school teacher and politician ( SPD ). He was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament from 1986 to 2003.

Life

After graduating from high school, Schuhmann began studying history, German and social studies at the University of Würzburg, which he completed with the state examination and a doctorate in contemporary history. From 1972 to 1986 he was a senior teacher at the Apian-Gymnasium in Ingolstadt, where he was a liaison teacher for several years and from 1980 also a seminar teacher. Schuhmann is married, has two children and lives in Ingolstadt.

Schuhmann has been a member of the SPD since 1963. He was Ingolstadt Jusos chairman and chairman of a local SPD association. He has been a member of the Ingolstadt city council for his party since 1972 - from 1996 to 1998 and from 2004 to 2008 as parliamentary group leader. Since 1998 he has been a board member of the local SPD organ Schutter-Kurier . He is currently spokesman for his parliamentary group in the committee for urban development, ecology and economic development.

In 1986, 1990, 1994 and 1998 he moved into the Maximilianeum on the district list of his party . There he was mainly active in the committee for cultural policy issues, including as museum policy spokesman. He was a member of the advisory board of the House of Bavarian History and of the Bavarian State Center for Political Education .

Schuhmann is a board member of the European Danube Museum in Ingolstadt . From 1982 to 2004 he was President of the ERC Ingolstadt and prior to that, from 1980, he was Vice Chairman. Since 1990 he has been deputy chairman of the relief organization eV for people in need due to natural disasters, especially in developing countries, and since 1999 board member of the Friends of the Georgian Chamber Orchestra eV Schuhmann is also a member of the advisory board of the International Simon Mayr Society . From 1976 to 1997 he was a member of the Ingolstadt district board of the Bund Naturschutz . from 1996 to 2009 he was chairman of the Evangelical Educational Association in Ingolstadt eV
