Manfred Stiller

Manfred Stiller (born June 3, 1930 in Berlin-Spandau ; † February 1, 2010 ) was a German civil engineer.

Stiller studied civil engineering at the TU Berlin with a diploma in 1955 (for which he received the Dischinger Prize). He then worked for five years as an assistant at the TU Berlin before joining the German Concrete Association (DBV) in 1959 . In 1969 he became managing director, in 1978 sole chief executive officer and in 1981 executive board member.

He was a driving force behind the new versions of the DIN standards for concrete (DIN 1045, 4227). To control the enforcement of the norms he founded the community of goods concrete (1971) and preservation of buildings (1985). He was a board member in both clubs. He retired in 1995.

The qualification certificates for construction workers E-certificate and SIVV-certificate come from him. He initiated the German concrete days and the DBV leaflets. From 1989 to 1998 he was in the editorial team of concrete and reinforced concrete construction .

He was also active in international standards committees and in the CEB and fip. His 1978 contribution to the CEB / fip model regulation for concrete structures was influential.

In 1993 he became an honorary member of the Comité Européen du Béton (CEB) and fip and he was an honorary member of the DBV. In 1994 he received the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class.
